Albanian traffickers exploit Irish back-door taxi route into UK - by Charles Hymas - 30.08.22

It gives us no pleasure in returning time and again to this issue, but barring the 'energy & cost-of-living crisis', immigration remains the number one concern with the overwhelming majority.

We therefore publish two articles from the Telegraph – one on the iniquities of ruthless Albanian gangs who are exploiting soft border controls between Ireland and the UK to smuggle illegal immigrants into Britain via a taxi service.

The other, by Douglas Murray, exposes a similar crisis taking place in the US as thousands of illegals are passported up to Washington and New York from the Mexican border, much to the outrage of the East Coast Establishment as it faces up to the consequences of mass migration in its own backyard.

We begin with Charles Hymas’ report from the Northern Irish border where

“The Albanians are working with Irish criminal gangs to fly migrants into Dublin – often with fake EU papers – before providing them with an Irish taxi driver to sneak into Britain on ferries.

The backdoor route costs the migrants around £2,500 per person with a further £300 to £400 for fake ID bought in Albania. It costs an average £5,000 to £5,500 for an illegal Channel crossing in a small boat.

One gang organiser told an undercover reporter the trips were staged “every day”.

If challenged at Dublin, the migrants are advised to “make a big noise” and claim asylum. “In 12 hours, they will let you go free. Then the taxi arrives and you can get straightway to England,” said the gang organiser.”

The National Crime Agency (NCA) and the Home Office officials are meeting senior Albanian police to fast-track them back to Albania.

The extent of the abuse within the system is shocking:

“The Ministry of Defence (MoD) revealed that 915 migrants reached the UK on Saturday, bringing the total to more than 25,000, double the rate of last year. Home Office officials say between 50 and 60 per cent of arrivals are Albanian.”

And in our second article, Douglas Murray reports on a parallel story taking place in America where the East Coast Establishment is now having to face the consequences of mass migration in its own backyard.

“The Biden administration, like our Conservative Government, has hoped that the American people would not notice the surge. To the extent that they have bothered about it, they have allowed the southern states to absorb the problem.

But in recent months, the southern states have decided to change the game. The Republican governor of Texas, Greg Abbott, decided to share the challenge around. In recent months he started bussing illegal migrants north, sending them by bus to New York, DC and other cities that encourage illegal migration without ever really suffering its consequences.

To date, almost 5,000 people have been sent to New York. Which, as mentioned, is an average day’s arrivals. But oh how the New York politicians have screamed. The Democrat mayor, governor and others have all accused the Texas governor of playing politics. What are they to do with all of these unhoused new arrivals, they ask?”

The consequences are already being felt:

“Even after just a couple of thousands migrants arrived in the city the New York housing authorities found themselves at breaking point.

Now, the authorities are having to put the new arrivals up at a hotel just off Time Square. Local backlash has been swift. Why should New York – which already has enough of a homelessness problem of its own – be putting fresh arrivals up in hotels? Where is the sense of first come first served? How many queues can these illegals illegally jump?”

The hypocrisy of those who foisted this policy on the border states is finally being exposed:

“DC mayor Muriel Bowser is just one of those to complain.

“We are not a border city,” she said last week. “Our infrastructure is set to focus on DC residents.” Quite. But what does she imagine the infrastructure of “border cities” should intend to focus on?

Of course, the actions of the governors of Arizona and Texas are not only legitimate and legal, they are wholly justified. If politicians in DC and New York want to encourage illegal migration – as they do – then they should be prepared to pay the costs, in financial and all other terms. “

Who knows, if things continue as they are, hard-pressed local authorities in England might be tempted to try something similar:

Islington already has its fair share of problems, but why not bus all the latest arrivals into the borough on a daily basis? Let the left-wing politicians in our country who do not believe in borders bear the consequences of their own beliefs.

Let them meet every morning the growing reality of a country in which thousands of people enter illegally each day. Let them see the poverty, the hopeless, the black-market underbelly, the criminal gangs and much more. Bring it home to them, and see how they like it when a problem they think of in the abstract becomes very, very real.”
